I get a lot of questions about using thin client devices with AVD, from our Government customers they are often about smart card support… I’ll save that for another post (if you want smart card support with a thin client use one that runs Windows!!!!!).
The good news about thin clients (other than smart cards) is that they generally work well, and in some cases have capabilities that do not exist in the native clients.
One common use case is to automatically log a user into their AVD workspace… something we see as a requirement on manufacturing floors, retail, and other locations.
Here’s a video that my co-worker Kevin created to show how you can use a Dell 5070 thin client device running ThinOS AND auto-login the user! As a bonus, Kevin also shows that his way cool bar code scanner works as well.
